Electric cars are not the future at the moment.

Electricity is a expensive kind of energy to make.

For home's is it not a problem because it don't require a lot of power, in the Netherlands every resident is able to use 3,2W of power .

But in the case of a car we need to generate more power.

So what if 50% of the living people on earth have a electric car that uses 70KWh of energy

we can make the sum: Energy*people with a car.

it is a very long number but if we want electric cars we need to transfer more energy to electric energy. and if we have not enough electric energy the price of electricity wil grow exponetional

so my conclusion is that if people are able to generate more electricity in a short period of time(with hydrogen and solarpanels) then it is intresting.

But at the moment the most sustainable car is a hybride

Electric cars are getting cooler, maybe they will stick this time around?

As Daan mentioned electricity demand to recharge cars may require significant investments to produce additional electricity, and distribute it.

Another limiting factor is battery technology which has made huge leaps in the past two decades, but also requires huge amounts of energy to mine and refine the raw materials.

I get that people feel green when driving an electric car "to save the planet", but it is simply shifting the extraction and refining of fossil fuels for another list of materials to use for batteries, solar panels, and related components.

Energy is not free, and converting, and transporting energy leads to losses at every stage.

Until we obtain the Holy Grail of free energy, we are not focusing on the right problem. The larger issue is simply how much energy is used and wasted by much of the Earth's population, which in turn continues to grow due to the abundance of inexpensive energy.
